TEENAGE marksman Oliver Johnson has his eagle eye on more trophies after picking up prestigious national clay pigeon shooting titles recently.
The 14-year-old from Bempton won the English and British Open All Round Colt Championships in Derbyshire, to follow on from a string of successes last year.
Mum Pam said: “His dad Adam has always been into clay pigeon shooting so Oliver tagged along as soon as he was old enough.
“He has been shooting for around two-and-a-half years but was watching from an early age.
“He had a couple of lessons but people said he was quite a natural at it.”
Last year, the Headlands School pupil was Yorkshire FISTASC Sporting Colt champion, North of England All Round Colt champion, Durham Colt sporting champion, Yorkshire Colt sporting champion, East Yorkshire Colt Trap champion and runner-up in the Clay Sporting Classic.
He practises at East Yorkshire Gun Club at Leconfield, at Brandesburton and York , and his cartridges are sponsored by Dave Thompson at York Guns.
