Boules met bonnets as Bridlington-Millau Petanque Club hosted its annual Mad Hatters Day on Saturday.

All the players turned up in fancy headwear for a competition, which produced a very close finish with several players winning five of their six games.

Ron Hersee took third, second was Beryl Hartley with Aled Jones in first. Winner of the best home-made hat was Simon Alvey

Club chairman Christine Cann said: “This was a very social competition for members who do not particularly like to travel or take part in regional events.”
