Fund-raising Mike Hall pushed himself to the limit to help Bridlington Swimming Club.

Earlier this month, he completed The Wall, one of the UK’s most iconic Ultra Marathons, which involves running 69 gruelling miles through the historic Hadrian’s Wall country, from Carlisle to Newcastle.

The route took Hall from Carlisle to Newcastle.

It was a remarkable effort, consdiering that the longest distance he had previously run when he stepped on to the start line was 28 miles.

Hall completed the route in 14 hours and 22 minutes, to finish in 87th position out of around 700 runners.

As well as collecting cash for the swimming club, Hall is giving some of the sponsor money he raises to the RNLI.

Describing the swimming club as ‘fantastic’ on his fund-raising website, Hall said: “It is run entirely by volunteers for the benefit and progression of children who wish to further their swimming to enter compitions at local, regional and national levels.

“The club also encourage children and masters to swim for health, fitness and fun.

“The funds raised will go to support the club in the training of coaches and provision of equipment.

“I would like to thank my wife and family for putting up with all my training, everyone who donated plus the local businesses who donated, the Expanse Hotel, Rags Restaurant, The Cutting Room, North Beach Fish and Chips and Griffin Jewellers.
