IT WAS the BUPA Great North Run on Sunday with a record 55,000 runners taking part in wet, but otherwise ideal conditions,
Professionals, celebrities and club runners were all hoping for personal bests in the 13.1-mile half marathon, of which the majority were running for their chosen charities.
From Bridlington, there were three Road Runners taking part. In the men’s race, which was won with a sprint finish by this year’s London Marathon winner, Wilson Kipsang from Kenya, the club were represented by Marc Corner, who had a great run finishing in 515th place in a time of 1.26.51.
In the women’s event, which was won by Tirunesh Dibaba from Ethiopia, Bridlington had two runners.
Sarah Wood enjoyed a superb run, shaving a massive 15 minutes off last year’s time, crossing the line in 1,759th place in a time of 1.35.00.
Having another good run was Rebecca Clifton crossing the line in 5,376th in a time of 1.45.01.
