The views of Bridlington RUFC director of rugby Rich Girking after the win at York last weekend.
“WHAT a fantastic win.
“We were under the cosh for most of the game but heroic defence kept us within one score, so we always had a chance.
“A late lineout steal, the only one we got near, and a drive round the fringe secured a very late win and left York wondering how. “York played well starving us of possession, nullifying our backs to only a few chances but they weren’t able to capitalise on 70% possession and territory.
“They selected a huge pack and a very experienced scrum half and battered the fringes of rucks all game never giving the ball any width but a great team effort kept York out.
“It was definitely no surprise we came away with the win our excellent team spirit deserved.
“Dom Elliott on his debut and Tom Brown showed well off the bench despite their inexperience, and skipper Ali Sutton did a huge stint, as did all the team sharing the work.
“Man of the match went to Paddy Waines who never took a backward step at either second row or prop.
“Barnsley at home next week, please give your support I can guarantee it will be worth it, and join us in our newly refurbished bar afterwards. “
