THERE are just 10 days to go until the first Bridlington Free Press Open Golf Championships.

The competition takes place at Flamborough Head Golf Club on Saturday, July 21 and already around 70 golfers have signed up to take part.

It will be played over 18 holes, as a gents’ individual stroke play medal format.

Chris Feast, competition secretary at Flamborough Head GC, said: “A true test of anyone’s golf and handicap is to compete in an Open Individual Medal where you are playing against golfers with equal or better handicaps from other clubs and areas.

Proceeds from the day will go to the Free Press 150 Fund, which will give out small grants to sports clubs and individuals in Bridlington and the surrounding villages, and the Flamborough club’s junior section.

The entry fee for the Bridlington Free Press Open is £18, which includes entry into the twos club.
