A lack of entries has forced the second Bridlington Free Press Open Golf Championships to be cancelled.

The tournament was scheduled to be played at Flamborough Head on Saturday, but with fewer than 30 players signing up, organisers took the decision to call the competition off.

Free Press sports editor John Edwards said: “It is very disappointing not have received the support of local golfers, especially considering the coverage we provide each week.

“We had hoped the glorious weather forecast might have tempted a few late entries, but not enough people came forward.”
