Driffield Mucky Duck 2012 Multi-terrain 8 mile Run - Bridlington

THE major event in the local running calendar was Driffield Striders’ Mucky Duck race on Sunday.

Hot and sunny conditions greeted runners as they prepared for the start of the event which took place over a mixture of road and country, ideal conditions for spectators but not conducive for fast times with the heat draining runners energy levels very quickly.

Despite these conditions Bridlington Road Runners’ Phill Taylor took his fourth consecutive victory beating Beverley AC’s James Pearson by over a minute.

In the ladies’ section Emma Brown, another Bridlington member, came home 1st lady beating her nearest rival Becky Fielding-Smith of Hull also by over a minute.

A further four lady members won their age categories.

The race was also the second round of the club’s Summer Handicap Series the men’s section being won by Phill Taylor and the ladies by Angelika Corner.

TUESDAY evening saw the 6th race in The City of Hull AC Champagne League take place at South Dalton over a course of 5.1 miles.

Stuart Spooner overcame a knee injury to finish in 33rd position and Dave Foster, on his way back from injury, finished in 91st.

A GLORIOUS sunny day with a slight breeze greeted Parkrunners at Sewerby Park on Saturday morning.

With the warmer weather, an increasing number of holidaymakers are taking part in this free weekly event and everyone praises the route and comments on the amazing views.

The first Bridlington Road Runner was Dave Playforth in third place closely followed by Kevin Sissons in sixth place who once again shaved time off his PB.

Ben Smith came home in 15th and first JM15, Stuart Atkinson made a comeback from injury in 18th, with the club’s only lady on the day Sheila Maddison in 33rd.
