Bridlington Ladies 2nds won an exciting match against a strong Hornsea team, in a match which featuredplenty of end-to-end hockey.
Hornsea tried unsuccessfully to score on a number of occasions, but the Brid team stayed tight in defence, with Tracy Wright and Rachel Bettley working hard to keep them out.
Rhianna Manson was unlucky not to score early on when she had a shot saved by the Hornsea keeper and another effort which went wide.
The youngsters of the team all contributed well and so did the other regular players, including Becky Nassau and Keren Miller who have both returned after having babies this year.
Chloe Smyrk, returning from injury, had an amazing game and definitely helped to keep the Hornsea score down.
Sarah Woodcock in goal made a great save from an aerial shot and also kept her cool through quite a few penalty corners.
The midfield of Liz Meek, Becky Nassau and Sarah Green worked hard to get the ball through to the forwards, and were rewarded when a Bettley pass to Manson, resulted in a great shot which the Hornsea keeper could not save, making the score 1-0 to Brid.
Shortly after this, Liz Stuart made it 2-0 with a great dribble and shot on target.
Hornsea kept up the pressure and were finally rewarded with a goal back.
The Bridlington team worked hard as a unit to prevent any more Hornsea goals, resulting in their first win of the season.
