Within a year of picking up a rugby ball for the first time, Bridlington’s Rianna Manson aims to break into the England international set-up after her selection to trial for the Under-18s Sevens squad.

Looking to make the most of an opportunity to impress the selectors, Manson, who is also an RNLI beach lifeguard in her home town, only started in the game when she joined the Bishop Burton College Rugby Academy but the commitment and talent she’s shown has led to her being spotted by scouts at the top level.

Manson was part of the team that claimed the Association of Colleges National Rugby Cup this week, a tournament held at the home of Aviva Premiership side, Saracens. Winning all four matches, the Bishop Burton College team lifted the trophy and added another trophy to the cabinet.
