An away fixture at Skidby Lakes is always a tight affair for Bridlington Links EGGS Section, and last week’s match ended in a narrow defeat.

The game finished 4-3, with one rubber halved, but Links players carded some impressive performances.

Back at the Links was an 18-hole singles contest, with only four golfers returning under-par cards.

Pride of place went to Brian Townend, who accumulated 42 points. Mr Consistency, John Lamont, was runner-up with 41 with John Kelly getting on the podium again with a solid 39 points. Keith Lowe recorded the day’s only two.

Thursday hosted a nine and 18-hole competition in beautiful conditions. The full course game saw Ken Rooke once again come to the fore with a round of 34 points. He was a point in front of Brian Townend, who continued his impressive run of form and included a two.

The traditional Back Nine Competition had several under-par returns, with Dave Spencer in the winner’s enclosure with 21 points.

Two players returned cards of 20, with Ron Howarth taking second on a countback from Brian Isham. Barry Stephens recorded the only two.
