The final Trophy game of the Bridlington Links EGGS Section’s year took place last week, with a victory for captain Mike Lidster.
He teamed up with Mick Braginton to win the Commerford Trophy in fine style with an aggregate score of 69 points. Braginton recorded a two on the 14th hole but was overshadowed by a hole in one on the same hole by Neal Hodnett.
Peter McBride and Brian Gregory were runners-up with 66 points, which was split equally between the two players.
Thursday’s back nine competition had a runaway leader in the form of David Hardy.
He has been threatening the winner’s podium for some time and completed an impressive card of 22 points, with a score registered on every hole.
Barry Crossland was three shots back in second place, with Peter Davy a further shot behind in third.
The 18-hole game saw David Cawood take the honours with a fine 35 points and Roy Porter taking second place, six points back.
Both recorded solid scores on the front nine, but conditions made the back nine prove to be a far more difficult challenge.
