THE three Bridlington crown green bowling clubs met to compete for the Mayor’s Jack and Stand Trophy.
This is an annual event hosted in turn by the three clubs and this year Westgate played host. Bowling as usual was of a very high standard which was reflected in many games.
The format was 12 players per team with each one playing against an opponent from the other two clubs.
Unfortunately the Westgate players were unable to benefit from home advantage and finished third. Final scores: Dukes Park 15 wins, Brid Bay 12 and Westgate 9.
Westgate president Peter Hellawell expressed his thanks to everyone whose efforts had helped to make the day a huge success, the teams for the competitive but friendly manner in which the games were played.
He then welcomed Deputy Mayor Coun Terry Dixon and invited him to present the trophy to Dukes Park captain Ken Walker.
