TWO of Yorkshire’s finest will be among the big names from darts heading to Bridlington Spa this weekend.

Fresh from their duel in the Winmau World Masters, Scott Waites and Dean Winstanley head the list of players competing in the BDO British Open.

Alongside them, will be familiar faces including England captain and world champion Martin Adams, last year’s British Open winner Ted Hankey, Tony O’Shea and Darryl Fitton.

But there will also be some lesser lights from the sport at the Spa, with players from all over the globe arriving.

Cyprus, the Bahamas, Finland and the USA will all be represented in Bridlington, as countries get in final preparations before the WDF World Cup in Ireland next week

The women’s events will feature the newly crowned Winmau Women’s World Master Lisa Ashton, England captain Trina Gulliver and Deta Hedman.

BDO chairman Barry Gilbey said: “This has to be the busiest month of the year and we are delighted to be back in the East Riding of Yorkshire for one of our biggest and most popular events.

“The World Masters in nearby Hull was an unqualified success and there’s no doubt that we all feel at home in this part of the world and I would like to thank Paul Roggeman and his colleagues at EY Events.

“Spectators are welcome at The Spa and tickets are just £6 tomorrow and £7 on Saturday and Sunday.
