Before making the long journey over to the Isle of Man to compete in the Southern 100 Road Races, local racer James Cowton was competing in the Auto66 Club’s UK Northern Clubman’s Championship at Mallory Park on Sunday.
The Cowton Racing Team were hoping for some good results to inspire them for the Isle of Man, which is their next event.
In the race, during which conditions were good and the track was dry, Cowton was racing his Honda CBR600 and Kawasaki ER6 650cc.
He won all his three races in the junior and formula lites class on his Honda CBR600, and gained a first and second in the super lightweights class on his Kawasaki ER6 650cc.
However, he had to retire in the third race due to battery failure.
The close racing provided the crowds with some great action and exciting racing.
All in all, Cowton had a great day and achieved some fantastic results.
After returning from the IOM, Cowton will be competing in the Auto 66 Clubs “Cock o’ the North” Continental Road Race Meeting at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough on 20 and 21 July.
Cowton achieved great results at Oliver’s Mount in the Barry Sheene Road Race Festival in June.
Anybody interested in sponsoring Cowton can contact him or his dad Fran on 420399.
