BRIDLINGTON ABC’s latest boxing show was held at the Pavilion Bar last Friday.

BRIDLINGTON ABC’s latest boxing show was held at the Pavilion Bar last Friday.

There were due to be 13 Bridlington boxers on the bill but unfortunately Chance Wedge’s opponent pulled out the evening before the show and Lee Marsh’s bout was called off on the night of the show.

This left regular Bridlington boxers Ben Spaven, Zac Stabler, Liam Bowtell, Darren Boyes, Tom Wray, Paul Dean and George Horner.

There were first contests for Lewis Spaven and Mitchell Wedge and a few names making their way back to the ring after a few years out including Luke Harper and Shane Green.

There were wins from Ben Spaven, Liam Bowtell, Darren Boyes and George Horner, with the other boxers beaten.

Despite seeing Bridlington boxers only win four of the evening’s 11 bouts, head coach Damien Grant was happy with the show.

He said: “I was pleased with the boxers’ performance, every one of them had a tough bout and all were close contests which is shown in the fact that nine out of 11 contests were decided by a majority decision.

“Some of the boxers competing were having their first ever contests or their first contest back in the ring in quite some time and they all did very well.

“The club would like to thank the Pavilion Bar for the use of the venue, the sponsors of the show, Stabler and Sons Skip Hire and anyone who came along and supported the night.”
