BRIDLINGTON rounded off an excellent second half of 2011 by completing a league double over neighbours Scarborough.
A 19-11 win, in an absorbing contest at Silver Royd, meant Bridlington will end the year on top of Yorkshire Division One.
Bridlington’s director of rugby Kieran Lawry said: “Saturday was another great example of how far we have improved over the last 12 months.
“Winning a game without playing well is a skill that teams who want to challenge for the league need to have.
“Our friends up the coast were certainly fired up for the encounter and had added some older heads to their side at the expense of any real pace.
“It did however galvanise the home team who kept the game a challenge right to the final whistle.
“The match capped off a fine year and who would have ever imagined, when near the bottom of the league this time last year, that in 12 short months we would be four points clear at the top and in the quarter finals of the cup.”
The second XV lost to their Scarborough counterparts 20-12.
