Bridlington karting champion Matthew Bonnett enjoyed a memorable hat-trick while winning the latest round of the PPiK Junior League in Leeds.
He broke the junior lap time record, not once but three times,.
He had qualified on pole position for the latest round but had his parents worried at first by getting himself to the back of the pack, before recovering to eventually secure the fastest time in qualifying.
Bonnett started the race on fire and opened up a 10-second gap on the second placed driver.
He controlled the race from the front getting faster and faster.
The existing lap record was 46.750 but Bonnett shaved it down to 45.632
The exiting junior champion, Bonnett has had a few unlucky races this season and now sits third in the championship.
He hopes to carry his momentum into the next race later this month.
