Snainton Golf Centre’s Alex Belt will make his European Tour debut next year at the flagship BMW PGA Championship.

The 29-year-old, also of Bridlington Links, will be one of 10 PGA professionals lining up with stars of the global game at Wentworth next May.

Former St Augustine’s School pupil Belt secured his place in the field after finishing fifth behind Irish winner Niall Kearney at last week’s Titleist PGA Play-Offs held at Antalya Golf Club, Turkey.

The play-offs are the final event on the PGA national tournament schedule featuring the best PGA players from across Great Britain and Ireland for the right to be crowned the PGA’s number one player.

Belt qualified for the play-offs after finishing top of the PGA in England & Wales (North) region Order of Merit with two victories and three runner-up spots from six events.
