It has been a busy weekend for Bridlington Road Runners, starting on Saturday morning with the 200th running of the Parkrun at Sewerby.

This event has gone from strength to strength and attracts well of 130 runner every week.

Phill Taylor won the milestone race, completing the scenic 5km course in 17:17.

Any one taking part in this event who is not a club runner is welcome to join Bridlington Road Runners for a training session starting from Bridlington Sports Centre in Gypsey Road on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm.

Sunday saw the first running of the new Hull Marathon. Although the weather was calm, the temperature rose during the morning and runners had to take on plenty of water.

This was also the case at the Great North Run where 57,000 runners pounded the roads from Newcastle to South Shields to complete one of the most popular half marathons in the world.

Meanwhile, Pearl Bayford and Emma Brown took part in Yorkshireman Off-Road Marathon over the moors of Haworth, taking in the rugged terrain of rocks, mud and severe hills.

This was a very challenging event and the Bridlington pair dug deep to take first ladies paired position.
