SEWERBY bowler Adrian Long was called up for the York Senior League representative team when they took on a Caribbean Select 11 at the weekend.
The fixture was one of the showcase events planned for the centenary celebrations of the league and was held at Sheriff Hutton Bridge on Sunday.
Opening the bowling, Long bowled six overs for 26 runs, but could not claim a wicket, as the Caribbean team made 249/5, thanks mainly to Leeward Islands skipper Steve Liburd’s unbeaten 103.
The league team never got close to chasing down the total and closed on 170/7.
Long, on his league XI debut, batted at seven and made 11 before being bowled by West Indies B international Elsroy Powell.
The Sewerby paceman has picked up 24 wickets in Division One so far this season at an average of 12.46.
