U15 Division C Knockout Final

PICKERING batted first and lost two early wickets from the bowling of Harry Burnhill and Frankie Reffold.

Ryan Taylor aided mainly by Kieran Edmond held the middle order together for Pickering, but after Taylor retired the introduction of bowler Ben Ibson ensured that the Pickering total was held at bay.

In response Bridlington lost two quick wickets taken by Kieran Boyes and Johnny Bayes, but batsmen Harry Burnhill and Jay Welch put a stand together that proved to be match winning. Harrison Male also reaching double figures for Bridlington.

Umpires Tony Jones and Robin Shepherdson adjudicated the Man of the Match award, and awarded it to Bridlington’s Harry Burnhill for his all round performance which included 25 retired, 1 for 18 from 4 overs and 2 catches.

Special thanks were extended to Flixton for staging the final and especially their groundsman James Brown for ensuring the match was completed.

With this victory Bridlington completed the league and cup double, if these boys keep up this attitude and willingness to learn and improve, the coaching staff are confident this squad will earn more rewards.

Junior Knockout Final

FOR the second time in a week Bridlington played Pickering in a cup final.

On a damp wicket at Wykeham, Bridlington inserted Pickering. Accurate bowling by Harry Burnhill and Frankie Reffold made batting difficult.

Burnhill made the breakthrough by having Ward well caught by Callum Battams.

With pressure building up three wickets fell to run outs and Oliver Beckett produced a brilliant one handed catch off his own bowling.

A Porter and L Beckett with one wicket each bowled tidy spells. before Burnhill and Reffold returned to finish the tail off.

Pickering’s innings closed on a meagre 41.

Bridlington’s batsmen went out in positive mind and soon knocked off the Pickering total.

Burnhill scored a watchful 11 while Jay Welch hit a forceful 22.

Burnhill was man of the match for his all round display.
