Belt wins in Spain

ALEX Belt began his 2013 season with a win at the El Valle Open in Spain.
An excellent final round saw him come through the pack to take the honours, and the 2,000-Euro top prize, in the first event of the Evolve Winter Tour.
Belt told the Free Press last week about how he has spent the last few months changing his putting technique and his swing, and it obviously paid off.
After his win in Murcia last Friday, the De Vere Club professional said: “I played very solid this week in all aspects of the game.
“I was trailing by four shots heading into the last round, and I actually said to my caddy that if I could score five-under in the last round that would have a sneaky chance of winning,
“Thankfully I had eight birdies and scored the five-under by making a birdie on the last hole, taking my total to six-under which won by two in the end.
“As I said last week, I hope to start again fresh for the next event and continue to deliver good performances.”
In second place at El Valle was Matt Evans, with Liam Murray and Javier De Lope tied for third.
Belt will stay in Spain for the next two months, with the Evolve Tour schedule including the Condado Alhama Open, the Hacienda Riquelme Open, the Saurines Open and the Thomas Sabo MatchPlay.
