ALEX Belt earned a share of the spoils in the latest round of the 1836 Tour at Fulford Golf Club.

He tied for first place with former European Tour winner Iain Pyman after both men carded a five-under-par 67.

The Bridlington man did not drop a shot during his round and managed a birdie on the last to steal ahead of clubhouse leader Tom Higson.

In the team event, he paired up with his dad Nick to record a 66, three shots behind the winners, Pyman and John Pollard.

Belt said: “I’m in winter training at the moment and looking towards the Europro Championships on November 13, where the top 50 qualify for the final event of the year.

“I am currently 15th in the order of merit. and I need to finish in the top five to gain a European/Challenge Tour category. “

He thanked his sponsors Lloyd Dowson and Nicholas Belt Estate Agency
