IT WAS a weekend to savour for our local cricket clubs as FOUR teams clinched promotion on the same day.
Leading the way, just like they have been leading the league all season, were Sewerby 1sts, who had already chalked up the five points they needed to go up, by tea.
Having amassed 269-7 to earn all the batting points on offer, they went on to finish the job by bowling Dringhouses out for 162 to ease to another maximum points win.
Still unbeaten in the York Senior League this season, they have ensured there will be a local derby next season with Bridlington 1sts in Division One.
There was double delight for the clifftop club as the young 4th team also earned promotion in only their second season.
They won their final game of the season to cement a top-two spot in Derwent Valley League Division C, although rivals Kirkbymoorside 2nds still have one more match to play and could snatch the title.
Elsewhere, Flamborough 1sts will be playing in the Beckett League Premier Division.
With one game left, they and Flixton 2nds cannot be caught. That is thanks to a nail-biting win over Wold Newton at the Woodcock Playing Fields on Saturday.
And there were celebrations at Grindale, who have won promotion from Division C and are 15 points clear at the top of the table, with one match still to play. Only Fylingdales can catch them.
