Hull United took revenge for their defeat in the East Riding Senior Cup final, by beating Bridlington Town in a pre-season friendly at Queensgate on Tuesday.
Jamie Waltham, who had a brief spell with the Seasiders in 2012, scored the only goal in the very first minute.
He showed more determination than Town’s defenders to head home a corner.
United, who will play a league below Bridlington this season, looked stronger than when the teams met at the KC Stadium in May.
The nearest Town came to an equaliser was when another former Seasider, keeper Phil Dobson, pushed Ombeni Ruhanduka’s corner on to his own crossbar.
