The NCEL Premier Division season kicks off on Saturday, with Bridlington Town travelling to Staveley Miners Welfare for their first game.
This will be the third year in a row that the Seasiders have begun their campaign against the Welfare, and last year they raced into a four-goal lead inside half-an-hour in Derbyshire, eventually going on to win 4-1.
In 2013/14, they hosted Staveley on the opening day and won 4-0, so they will be looking to make it a hat-trick of winning starts.
Town trained on Monday night and were due to have their final session last night.
Manager Gary Allanson said: “Everyone will be available for selection, apart from Chris Jenkinson who is still away and Benn Lewis who is still recovering from his broken wrist.
“It will be a very difficult game at Staveley as they have just changed the whole management set-up so they will be fresh and enthusiastic to prove a point.
“They have brought new players in alongside what they already have and will be youthful and energetic so it will be a difficult test for us. They have had a decent pre-season, winning five of their eight games, so they will be confident.
“Our own pre-season has been up and down and frustrating in places, because of players’ availability through holidays and injuries, but that has gone now.
“It has served a purpose of getting players fit and ready for Saturday. We can’t change whats gone on and we need to concentrate and prepare for the season, it’s about winning now and we will do our utmost to put that mentality into the players.
“We still have one or two irons in the fire but we are looking at players who will improve us and have the quality we are looking for. We have a great set of players at the minute who work really hard for each other.
“They are all talented players but they now need to learn to compete and have the winning mentality to move us forward to the next level.”
