BRIDLINGTON Town’s pre-season schedule is taking shape, with teams from Hull City and Leeds United the most high-profile visitors to Queensgate.
The date for the Tigers’ visit is yet to be confirmed, but Leeds are sending their under 21 team, managed by former Town player Neil Redfearn, on Tuesday, July 31.
Evo-Stik League sides Frickley Athletic and Ossett Albion will visit on Tuesday, July 24 and Sunday, July 29, with the only confirmed away match against Humber Premier League side Hornsea Town at Bishop Burton College on Thursday, July 19.
Chairman Peter Smurthwaite said: “We are also speaking to a couple more clubs to complete our schedule and all details will be confirmed next week.”
Before the friendlies, Town’s Academy team will receive their East Riding County League Division One medals at a presentation at the Queensgate clubhouse next Friday (June 15) from 7pm.
Afterwards there will be a free buffet laid on while fans can watch the England v Sweden game on TV.
“Support of the fans will be greatly appreciated,” added Mr Smurthwaite.
The Academy will receive the champions’ trophy and the league Senior Cup winners’ medals at the league’s AGM in Hull on June 21.
They will be known as Bridlington Town Reserves next season and will continue to play at East Riding College.
“We thank Brian Leach at the college for his help and support this year.
“We will also be continuing our under 19 team and several new teams in their league will create more matches for them next season.
“Our annual pitch refurbishment was carried out last Monday and we thank Roger Knight, Lea Houlihan, Joe Morland and Luke Stockdale, who did a sponsored walk from Beverley Minster to our final home league match of the season.
“They have handed over a cheque for £500 which was put towards the costs of the pitch refurbishment.”
New dugouts are also being installed at the Seasiders ground in time for the new season.
