This was Bridlington Town’s worst defeat since early March last year when they lost 5-2 at home to Parkgate.

Despite taking the lead in the 16th minute, within six minutes they had conceded three times, outdone by the sheer pace of the lively Garforth forwards.

Scott Phillips set the ball rolling by finishing of a neat build-up around the home area but straight from the restart the Miners went down the other end and a 25-yard effort from Stephen Simpson flew past Paul Fraser.

Two minutes later and from another quick raid Nick Black outstripped the Town defence to finish with a shot over Fraser from the edge of the area.

In the 22nd minute CJ Lyle’s ran down the right before playing the ball in for Alex Booker to fire past Fraser’s despairing dive.

Frank Belt converted a penalty for handball three minutes before the break.

Eight minutes into the second half a Booker free kick was headed in by defender Andy Hawksworth and after 63 minutes the Seasiders’ misery was complete when Simpson cut inside Belt to fire in from the left for his second goal.

Town must now pick themselves up for the trip on Saturday to Liversedge who are finding it difficult to score goals and have three losses and one draw from their competitive games so far.
