Injuries and unavailability means Bridlington Town’s small squad will be stretched in the coming weeks.

And the problem has not been helped by midfielder Louis Kirk’s decision to leave Queensgate.

He has signed for Evostik Division One North side Goole.

Town manager Gary Allanson said: “We are obviously very disappointed as two weeks ago he was adamant he was staying with us and he was really enjoying his football and the way we played.

“He will be a big miss for us, he has done really well and gave us some much needed energy in the midfield, but you can’t stop players moving at this level.

“He is moving to a higher level and for much more than we can offer. We wish him all the best and hope it works out for him.”

Town face two home games in four days, with Armthorpe Welfare visiting on Saturday and Retford United providing the opposition on Tuesday night.

Allanson added: “Because of the amount of games we are playing we are picking up injuries all the time, Ryan Nicholls will be out for a while with a knee injury, Tom Fleming is really struggling as is Joel Sutton, Brett Agnew and Ash Allanson are still getting their full fitness back and Gareth Owen has only just had his pot taken off his foot.

“Mike Thompson is away with work and Will Waudby has a three-game suspension ready to kick in from Saturday so we are at the bare bones now.”
