Bridlington Town cruised into the final of the East Riding Senior Cup after crushing underdogs Riccall United 8-1.
The reigning York League champions looked like they might cause a semi-final surprise when former Bridlington striker Steve Lyon opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes.
But The Seasiders responded emphatically. Joel Sutton scored twice in two minutes, the first from the penalty spot and the second a free kick, and Bridlington never looked back.
Andy Norfolk stretched the lead to 3-1 in the 21st minute and the game was out of sight when Chris Adams added a fourth on the half-hour mark.
Riccall’s cause wasn’t helped when they were reduced to 10 men before half-time and the procession of goals continued after the interval.
Will Waudby and captain Tom Fleming chipped in, and Norfolk added his second goal 10 minutes from time.
Teenage substitute Tom Waudby made it 8-1 in the 89th minute, and Town will face North Ferriby United in the final at the KC Stadium in Hull next month.
The Seasiders also discovered who they will face in the fifth round of the NCEL League Cup last night.
Thackley beat Glasshoughton Welfare 5-1 and Bridlington will travel to Bradford to face them in the last eight on Thursday, April 28.
Town’s Reserves were also in cup action last night, beating Hutton Cranswick SRA 2-0 in the third round of the HE Dean Cup.
They face Brandesburton Reserves in the quarter finals next Thursday.
