The thoughts of Bridlington Town manager Gary Allanson after the 2-1 defeat to Worksop Town.
“I think the weather played a part on Saturday with the wind, and the pitch was drying out and was bobbly, but we were surprised how Worksop started as they were very direct and played long balls into their strikers.
“They are a very good footballing side with some talented players and the time-wasting tactics they used in the second half was quite embarrassing and was a total waste of the talent they have in their team.
“I can understand winning is important and they have moved to the top of the league because of this victory but surely that is to the detriment of the game of football, especially when they are as good as they are.
“Their better players must be frustrated playing like that.
“From our point of view, we were disappointed with the quality we showed we went too long too often and didn’t pass the ball enough.
“Our tempo was poor, but the best passage of play in the whole game came from us and we scored from it.
“In the last 15 or 20 minutes of the first half and first 10 to 15 minutess of the second half we were better side and could have gone in front.
“Overall I think it was the right result but again we have given a top two team a real good run for their money and we just need to learn from this and take the positives and keep moving forward.
“We just need to have more confidence in our ability and be braver on the ball and keep possession better. “
