Burlington Jackdaws kick off their 10th season in junior football in September, and have lined up a colourful character to help them celebrate.
Former Manchester United, Leeds United and England star Lee Sharpe will be the special guest at a sportsmen’s dinner to mark the milestone.
Sharpe won eight full England caps and made eight appearances for the under 21s.
Jackdaws chairman Chris Kirkham said: “To acquire Lee Sharpe for our fund-raising evening, which will feature an auction and some other interesting ideas, is a real coup for us.
“I enjoyed watching him play in the 90s in the team that won United the Premier League in 1993 and the Premier League and FA Cup double in 1994 and 1996.
“We hope people outside of the club can come to the event and help celebrate our evening and successes.”
The dinner will take place at the Blue Bell Hotel, in Burton Agnes, on Friday, September 11.
A limited number of tickets are available, priced £30.
Sharpe will speak about his career which saw him line up alongside Ryan Giggs and Eric Cantona, and under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson, and guests will enjoy a three-course meal and musical entertainment.
Jackdaws’ first decade has seen players go on to academies at Hull City, York City and Leeds United and the club has produced many FA Level one coaches.
It continues to work with local primary schools and is looking for new players for the new season, which will see its sides operate in the Hull Boys Sunday League, having moved over from the Scarborough Minor League.
Sponsors are being asked to join in the event, and anybody with any football memorabilia to auction can also get in touch with Chris on 07890 629758.
