Riccall are the current York League champions but sit in fifth in the table this season, and cup holders Town will have been relieved to have avoided Hall Road Rangers and North Ferriby United, who meet in the other semi-final.

Bridlington booked their place in the semi-finals by making hard work of seeing off NCEL Division One side Westella VIP on Tuesday evening, in a match which was switched to Queensgate..

The underdogs took an early lead through Lewis Andrews, but the Seasiders found themselves by the 11th minute of the game, thanks to Chris Jenkinson’s header and Ryan Nicholls’ fine volley.

Jenkinson had another goal chalked off before half-time for offside and Westella spurned a glorious one-on-one chance at the start of the second half, but goalmouth action was rare.

Eventually, Will Waudby’s splendid cross was headed home from close range by Andy Norfolk and Bridlington looked home and dry with 10 minutes to go.

However, Westella sub Luke Salas produced a wonderful chip to reduce the arrears and set up a nervy last five minutes.
