A WARM and bright morning, a great pitch and two sides wanting to score goals set the scene for what turned out to be a great day’s football.

The Rhinos set the example, a strong and positive Jack Edwards playing in the Rhinos goal, moved the ball very quickly to his defensive partnership of Lewis Hill and James Cawkill, both players linking with their midfield.

It was from one of these passing movements that Louie Murray made a blistering run down the right hand side.

His cross found Robert Fowler who coolly slid the ball into the path of Josh Wilkins. Wilkins made no mistake with his trusted left foot to put the Rhinos in the lead.

The Rhinos continued to apply the pressure with some solid tackling from Alex Timm and Philip Parker and constant running from a lively Shane Wilkes.

A long ball from Cawkill turned the Costello defence and found a lively Robert Fowler. He carried the ball to the edge of the box and fired across the keeper and into the net to extend the lead.

Costello worked hard to stay in the game but were finding it difficult to break down the Rhinos who wanted to attack at every opportunity.

It was from this determined approach that a slick pass from Murray found a hard running Joe Rowbottom who let the ball run past the defender then hit early beyond a stranded Costello keeper.

It was time for Costello to wake up. Three quick goals brought the scores level to record a remarkable comeback.

Men of the match: Robert Fowler for a fine all round performance in midfield and James Cawkill for a true captain’s performance at the back.
