Bridlington Rangers Panthers under 13s continued their good form with an impressive 3-2 win over second-placed Pelican United in the Wyke Division.
Pelican started strongly and forced Harry Pearson into some good early saves but Panthers took the lead through Riley Jemison’s well-crafted lob.
Their second came by way of a well-worked team goal. Reece Smithson spread the game well and Elliot Day provided a flawless cross for Cameron Connelly to head perfectly beyond the keeper.
Panthers took complete charge after Ted Wray, Ben Baillie and Alfie Thompson linked to send Dan Artley clear down the right.
He cut inside, beat two players and fired home an unstoppable effort.
The second half saw Pelican begin to show their class. Declan Potts supported his defenders Aaron Waring and Riley Thornton against what at times seemed like constant pressure.
Panthers could do little about Pelican’s two goals but were unlucky not to score themselves, when Jonny Murray and Jack Green sent Lauren Hales clear but Pelican managed to keep them out.
Manager’s man of the match was Potts with Artley getting the parents’ award.
