The Free Press Team of the Week is back - and after a weekend packed with goals, it’s no surprise that we have picked a very attacking formation.
With tricky conditions for goalkeepers meaning no clean sheets locally, guesting between the sticks is Armthorpe Welfare’s number one Leigh Overton, who stopped everything Bridlington Town throw at him for the first 80 minutes on Tuesday.
The only defender in the line-up is Jordan Forde, who impressed for Flamborough 2nds in their 7-1 win over Bridlington Sports Club Reserves.
The midfield is packed with a number of impressive performers. Will Waudby finally broke Armthorpe’s resistance and Caman Male made a goalscoring debut for Crown at Nafferton. Burton Agnes duo Dom Richardson and Kristen Waines were their star men as they beat Forester Athletic 2nds and Jason Coultas is the second Flamborough 2nds player to make the team.
Jay Wallace scored twice for Bridlington Sports Club County in their defeat to Beverley Town Reserves, and teenager Nathan Pickering netted for Bridlington Town Reserves in their cup tie against St George’s.
The first name on the team sheet was Sports Club’s Mike Tate who scored all five goals as they beat Hessle United, and joining him in attack is Crown’s hat-trick hero Brandon Smith.
