A NUMBER of local players travelled to the International FootGolf event held in Manchester earlier this month.

The event was held at Prestwich Golf Club and 45 players from Hungary, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland and England competed, with local players Nik Crabtree, Joe Reynolds, Jason Hardcastle, Charlie Spalding, Coby Sellars and Fraser Owen all taking part.

The course was a 15-hole par 65 test with the winner, Hungarian Atek Attila, completing it with a score of one-under-par.

5th: Joe Reynolds (68)

6th: Nik Crabtree (70)

9th: Jason Hardcastle (72)

15th: Fraser Owen (78)

Joint 17th: Charlie Spalding and Coby Sellars 80

Event organiser Mike O’Connor said ”I want to thank the locals for supporting the event, and I want to congratulate them for the strong performances against some strong and experienced competitors.

“Playing against ex-professional footballers, like the event winner who played in the Dutch league for most of his career, and an ex Stoke City player, with current Dutch champion Simon Wetzel finishing in 12th place, I think they should all be proud of themselves and their overall performance”.

A JUNIOR competition at Sewerby Hall earlier this month was a great success, with over 40 youngsters participating.

Second place was shared by Harrison Grainger and Luca Colangelo finishing on 33 shots, and the junior winner was Ashley Melles, completing the course in 30 shots.

There will be more junior competitions coming soon, for more information on upcoming events visit www.footgolfengland.co.uk and Sewerby is now open from 11am to 3pm Saturday and Sundays for FootGolf – no estate admission charges.

The FootGolf Association thanked its local sponsors Bridlington Late Night Pharmacy, Lloyd Dowson Chartered Accountants and Bridlington Dental Studio.
