Young Harrison Grainger is planning to raise money for his football team with a challenge based around the number eight.
Because he is eight years old, wears the number eight, is a huge fan of Liverpool’s number eight Steven Gerrard, and his brother Rafferty and late grandma had birthdays on the eighth, the Burlington Jackdaws players is going on a sponsored walk - of eight miles, of course.
On Sunday 2 June, he will set off from the Friendly Forester car park at 10am in his full kt and with his collection bucket in his hand.
He will head along Marton Road, around Well Lane bypass, down Bessingby Road, along Kingsgate and Kingston Road until he reaches the seafront, and will then head all the way to the Ship Inn at Sewerby along the promenades.
Dad Paul will be accompanying him and said: “We are hoping that not just people who know Harrison will sponsor him as he wants to challenge himself and raise as much as possible for Burlington Jackdaws.”
