Bridlington Snooker Centre 2 Forum FC Reserves 0

Driffield League Division One

AFTER drawing with Forum two weeks ago, Centre needed a win.

It was not a game for the faint hearted as Centre started the game stamping their authority on every part of the game

The midfield of Etherington, Ritchie and Osborne were giving Forum no space to play football and the creativity and constant running of Gilson and Colclough meant Centre were always threatening the visitors’ goal.

To Forum’s credit their defence and keeper put in a gritty performance as Hudson-Bowe’s pace and shooting were a constant threat.

On 40 minutes Hudson-Bowe who was the provider, after a slick passing move he played a one-two with Alex Etherington who placed it into the bottom corner to give Centre a well deserved lead.

With this goal giving Centre even more confidence they broke clear again and a shot on goal was unfortunately deflected by Forum’s Clarke which sliced into the top corner giving Centre a second on the stroke of half time.

The second half started with Centre once again dominant in every position on the pitch but when Forum did create a chance the Centre defence and goalkeeper were very professional and calm in clearing any dange.

Both teams were solid and enthusiastic in the tackle but unfortunately there were many cards shown by the referee.

With 10 minutes to go, Chapman was sent off for Centre, but his side ‘s win was never in doubt .

Man of the match: Alex Etherington – passing and commitment

Manager’s comments: “Real deal? Definitely. Well done lads, couldn’t have asked for anymore.”
