FORESTER Athletic’s second string capped a fine season by adding the Bryan Pannhausen Trophy to the league title they had already won.
Having beaten Little Driffield 2-1 in both league games, everything pointed to a tight battle for the trophy, but when Forester opened their account in the ninth minute the final result was never in doubt.
In a scintillating 25-minute spell Forester had opened up a 3-0 lead courtesy of a Simon Wright hat-trick. The first came when Wright converted a cross from Paul Preen, his second virtue of some excellent work from James Fountain and the third when he headed home a superb cross from Jason Smales.
Despite Forester losing captain Paul Grainger, and hat-trick hero Wright to injury, Little Driffield never looked like scoring.
Forester made it 4-0 through sub Chris Wray who went on to score a fifth following good work from fellow sub Sam Wragg.
Manager Pete Clarkson said: “An absolutely fantastic performance, everybody was superb and I thank all the players for their efforts during the season.
“They have certainly deserved the double. “
