BRIDLINGTON’S bid to become the FootGolf capital of Britain took another giant step at the weekend.

BBC Breakfast showed a film of local players teaching the sport to the programme’s sports presenter Mike Bushell.

And although the segment was filmed in Manchester, three Bridlington players, Mike O’Connor, Joe Reynolds and Fraser Owen, all hit hole-in-ones in front of the TV cameras.

O’ Connor, who is director of UK FootGolf, said: “We got some really fantastic exposure and it has created a massive amount of interest all around the country.

“I have had players and courses contacting me from Scotland, Ireland and all over the country.”

The next FootGolf tournament at Sewerby is on Sunday, March 17, and Sewerby Hall is still open on a Saturday and Sunday for praticising from 11am to 3pm.
