Five teams are still in contention for the Driffield League Premier Division title, but it is Bridlington Rovers who have a three-point lead at the top.
They picked up four points from two games in the past week, to put some daylight between themselves and their nearest rivals.
Rovers took revenge on Mermaid United Old Boys last Wednesday, having been knocked out of the Don Bemrose Trophy by them four days earlier.
After a goalless first half, Ben Marshall put Rovers ahead 10 minutes into the second half after some poor defending
Trev Tindall made it two after rounding the keeper and although Mermaid pulled one back with five minutes to play, Rovers hung on.
They had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Stirling Castle at the weekend.
Tindall netted from the spot after he was pulled back in the box, but Stirling took advantage of keeper John Booth’s mis-kick to level, and Josh Pilmoor struck a post late on for Rovers.
Burton Agnes are in second after a 4-1 win over Forester Athletic 1sts. Jack Gray hit two and Dylan thomas and Kyle Smith were also on target. Luke Stockdale scored for Foresters, who lie in third spot, but can go top by winning their two games in hand.
Flamborough 1sts have three games to catch up on and are five points off top spot.
