Bridlington Snooker Centre 1
Challenge Cup final
BRIDLINGTON Excelsior finished off the season in fine style, beating local rivals Bridlington Snooker Centre 2nds in the Challenge Cup final.
A good crowd witnessed an entertaining game, full of quality goals.
Excelsior started the better of the two teams, looking to stamp their authority on the game, but it was Snooker Centre who scored first – Andy Ritchie volleying home from the edge of the penalty area, with an unstoppable shot.
Excels didnt let this affect the way they were playing and they pressurised Snooker Centre but had a goal disallowed for offside.
With Joe Watson enjoying plenty of ball out wide, he fed Mikey Tate who made no mistake, placing the ball wide of goalkeeper Chadwick.
Excelsior continued to dominate and Watson then crossed for Danny Anderson to head home and put them in front.
Snooks tried to get a foothold in the match but Excels were having none of it and Jaimie Chapman scored with a thunderous shot, followed by an excellent strike by the energetic Joe Watson to make it 4-1 half time.
The second half began with Snooker Centre making a couple of changes, hoping to get back into the game and they came close to scoring but Kane Firth cleared off the line.
With play being more even than in the first half, both sides had chances but Tate got the only goal chipping the keeper for an excellent finish.
