The countdown has begun to the start of the new Driffield and District League season with the make-up of the two divisions being announced.

The Premier Division will feature 10 teams with 12 sides battling it out for Division One honours when the campaign kicks off on September 7.

Organisation of the league has been hampered by three teams dropping out since registration opened in May. Seabirds Bridlington had become AFC Lounge Bar and had planned to expand to two teams, but the club’s firsts have withdrawn.

Northcote FC have also fallen by the wayside, as have Bridlington Snooker Centre 1sts, although its 2nds will continue in Division One.

Other changes see an extra Driffield-based team, Full Measure, joining the ranks, while last season’s Greyhound FC have become Hilderthorpe FC.

The line up is

Premier Division: Bridlington Excelsior, Bridlington Rovers, Bridlington Tigers, Driffield JFC 2nds, Driffield Star, Flamborough 1sts, Foresters Athletic 1sts, Mermaid Utd Old Boys, Sports Club United, Stirling Wanderers
