BRIDLINGTON Town chairman Peter Smurthwaite has urged local football fans to turn out and cheer the Seasiders on this Saturday.

Victory in their final game, against their nearest rivals Retford United, would clinch the title.

Despite Town being in such a strong position, only 160 supporters were at Queensgate on Saturday to watch them beat third-placed Brighouse 4-1.

Smurthwaite said: “How often do you get such an exciting end to a season and the chance to see your local team win the league?”
