Bridlington Town manager Gary Allanson was pleased with his side’s impressive start to the NCEL season.
“We had a very good start with a 2-0 away victory at Staveley which was quite comfortable for us overall.
“The players worked really hard in very hot conditions and on a bobbly pitch, we were disciplined and organised and never looked like conceding and it was great to keep a clean sheet.
“We had three other very good chances and we also hit a post, but the main priority was the three points.
“We have made some very good signings and with players now returning from holidays and injuries the squad is looking strong and players are now looking over their shoulders with their place not guaranteed. The competition is red hot in most positions.
“Tim Taylor and Lewis Clarkson made their league debuts for us, along with Andy Coverdale and Joel Sutton and all did very well.
“Hopefully the players will stick with it and see the benefits of being with a successful club. It is going to be a long hard season and all the players will be utilised,.
“All the players have to perform at their highest, otherwise it opens the door for others to come in.
“It has been an up and down pre-season so it was good to get to real football on Saturday and get the adrenaline pumping and the nerves on edge.
“Hopefully we can continue our good start and take it into a very difficult FA Cup game on Saturday against North Shields who as we all know won the FA Vase last season and this will be a massive test for us. They are bringing a few supporters down so it will be a great atmosphere and a great occasion.
