THE prospect of Bridlington’s two premier football teams meeting in the final of the East Riding Senior Cup remains after Tuesday night’s semi-final draw.
Bridlington Sports Club made it through to the last four after beating Hornsea Town 3-2 last Friday.
However, they have avoided competition favourites Bridlington Town in the draw, and will instead face Hall Road Rangers Reserves. Town have been paired with Westella and WIllerby.
Sports Club manager Terry Finney (pictured left) said: “I’m pleased with the draw, keeping us away from big team and hopefully better chance of getting to the final and a derby with Town.”
With Hull City, North Ferriby United and Hall Road’s first team all being knocked out of the competition in the early stages, Town will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy at the KC Stadium.
Boss Mitch Cook said: “Of the three teams we could have faced, I think we have the hardest opponents.
“I went to watch Westella beat Hessle in the quarter finals on Tuesday and it was a good game.
“It would be great for the town if the two Bridlington teams met in the final, so best wishes to Sports Club, although they have a tough task.”
