Driffield win inter-schools athletics

HEADLANDS School hosted its second annual three way athletics tournament with Bridlington Sports College and Driffield School

Field events on offer were triple jump and shot putt with 100m, 200m, 800m and relays available for the track.

After Headlands' success the previous week at Bridlington's three way tournament, confidence was high and pupils were looking forward to another good competition.

In the Year 7 girls track events, Driffield and Bridlington dominated with Driffield girls taking the sprints and Bridlington taking the middle distance events.

Headlands controlled the field events with Rianna Manson taking firstst with 7.20m in the triple jump and also taking first in the shot putt with a throw of 7.02m.

The Year 7 boys also found themselves overshadowed by the Driffield pupils who took first place in every track event but hope was found in the form of Ben Wright and Jem Kutevu, who were first and second in the triple jump with 6.50m and 6.60m respectively. Also taking first was Josh Wood in the shot putt with 7.77m.
