Hilderthorpe School’s dodgeball team have qualified for the Level Three Humber Games final at Hull University later this month.
They were one of two schools representing the Bridlington Cluster in the Level Two finals at Longcroft School in Beverley last week, and they cruised through the pool stage of the tournament, remaining unbeaten against opponents from Molescroft, North Frodingham, Leven and Skirlaugh.
In the semi-final, they played the runners-up of the other pool, Thorngumbald, winning comfortably 3-0.
The Hilderthorpe team then met their match in the final against a strong team from Brandesburton.
The first rubber ended in a tie, 2-2, then in the second, Hilderthorpe lost 4-2. The final rubber was very tense, with Hilderthorpe rising to the challenge and dispatching the whole team 5-0.
The final was decided on players left standing throughout the three games, with Hilderthorpe taking the victory 9-6.
